Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

Despite growing business scales and complexity, till 2008 IT infrastructure of the company represented a typical «patchwork automation» till 2008.

Main account units – finance, controlling, logistics and sale – were automated on the SAP R/3 platform, however this system covered only minimum set of operations.

The rapid business growth connected with increase in number of suppliers and clients, and also with diversification of delivered production, demanded at first more attention and control from the company management, and secondly, increases division interaction efficiency.

In the current situation best decision was found: to create a new information system possessing broader functionality and differing essentially from other account statement approaches.

Functional scope of the project included:

Accounting including asset accounting, bank and cash operation accounting.
Tax accounting.
Purchasing management.
Logistic operation accounting, including transportation accounting, freight charges accounting, warehouses management system.
Business expenses accounting, expenses accounting in a section of service works.
Service operation accounting (service orders reception, load planning and service personnel works distribution, performed works accounting).
Management budget system in multidivisional company, consolidated budget formation.
Management and financial reporting.

In recent years SAP platform became a habitual and convenient tool as to the Zeppelin Russland management, and to ordinary employees, besides the company already has its own team of IT specialists capable to provide system maintenance and development. Therefore it was decided to base a new corporate management system on the basis of SAP ERP 6.0 and to add easy-to-use means of SAP BI business analysis.

SAP business consultants and western experts with an extensive work experience in the field of logistics, service and sales were involved to master new functionality and to develop optimum principles of account statement and operational management. Solution implementation and general project management has been charged to a SAP partner – Russian company TeamIdea.
